CASCA
Works on Paper
Casca means “Bark” in Portuguese. This series of silkscreen prints is made using real organic cocoa ink. The prints are produced by Porta Preta, Rio de Janeiro.
“I went to the Botanical Garden of Rio about a year ago and took close up photos of different tree trunks. I was attracted by the different patterns of the tree barks and so decided to make these into elongated prints just like tree trunks format while adding my usual stroke of International Klein Blue at the bottom of each picture - referencing forestry mark making (trees to be saved). It is interesting to see how these become semi-abstract works on their own”.
