About the Designer
Daughter of Louis Giraud (1897-1985), ceramist in Vallauris, Raymonde Claire Micheline Giraud was born on June 21, 1929. She worked for a long time at Cerenne, then a large “Tout Carrelage” factory in the industrial zone of Vallauris, which closed in 1984. She creates under her married name Raymonde Leduc many “Bruyère” decorations on tiles or shaped pieces. For this decoration, it was necessary to insert small leaves, or twigs in the still fresh clay, then remove them delicately; these foliage could sometimes be used again. Roger Capron used the same technique. She died in Mouans-Sartoux on October 24, 2019, at the age of 90.
