Large table lamp Rio 30-46, designed by Giusto Toso and manufactured by Leucos in 1977, white opaline and clear crystal Murano glass with a blue tip. The blue tip version is rare to find nowadays especially in such perfect condition.
About the Designer
Giusto Toso was born in Murano on 11 May 1939, and in 1966 he obtained a degree in Architecture in Venice. Since 1963, he has been exhibiting his work at national and international tradeshows dedicated to gadgets, lighting and furniture. He specialises in industrial design, architecture, renovation and interior design. In the glass field, he started working in his father’s glass-making factory “Fratelli Toso”. He designed objects, his first creation being a series of modular elements with a self-bearing system completely made of glass which he used to put together large lighting installations in Europe, the United States, Japan and Arab countries. He won the first prize at the International Art Biennial of Venice, two first prizes from the Bevilacqua La Masa foundation and a first prize for an exhibition of artistic glass in Venice. Since 1969, he has been collaborating with Leucos, designing a collection of glass objects and modular lighting elements.
