About the Designer
Born in Colbordolo, Pesaro March 7, 1933, Franco Bucci attends the Art Institute Ferruccio Mengaroni in Pesaro and became a teacher for enamel on metal.
In these years Bucci gets the first personal acknowledgments, as well as starting work collaborations with major artists of the period, including Ettore Sottsass and Arnaldo Pomodoro. In 1961 he founds with Giovan Battista (Nanni) Valentini, Filippo Doppioni and Roberto Pieraccini “Laboratorio Pesaro”.
In 1966 “Laboratorio Pesaro” dissolves as a group and continues under the sole artistic and technical direction of Franco Bucci. In 1995 he sells his company “Laboratorio Pesaro” maintaining its artistic director until 1998. In 2001, to protect and revive the ancient roots of the production use of ceramic objects in Fratterosa, he realizes the crockery Museum in this small town in the province of Pesaro. Franco Bucci disappears at the age of 69 on May 4 2002. Some of his pieces are part of the permanent Collection at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
