A set of 8 vintage Bo Fajan sandwich plates designed by Berit Ternell for Bo Fajans Gelfe. These are a beautiful pale gray with a touch of blue color, just like the Swedish landscape colors. They are beautiful and in near perfect condition, no chips, cracks or noticeable scratches.

About the Designer

Berit Ternell is the daughter of the director Julius Ternell and Alice Margareta Larsson. Ternell started as a 15-year-old as an apprentice in ceramic design at Stenebyskolan in Dalsland. She received further education at the Handicraft Association's school in Gothenburg , the textile school 1945–1948 and the ceramics school 1948–1950. She then made a number of study trips to France, Spain, England and Italy, among others, and she participated in a watercolor course organized by the Gerlesborg School in Salerne, France in 1961.

She was an intern at Upsala-Ekeby AB where she performed part of Anna-Lisa Thomson's studio production. She was employed by Bofajans in 1951 and for a few years in the 1950s worked as a glass designer for Reijmyre glassworks and designed textile patterns. She made a brief interlude at Rörstrand's Porcelain Factory and TG Green's Poteries in England before working for a long period between 1957 and 1971 at Gefle Porcelain Factory as the only permanent designer. During the 1960s , she was considered the foremost designer at Gefle Porcelain Factory together withArthur Percy . After working at Gefle Porcelain Factory, Berit worked at the School of Art and Design (HDK) in Gothenburg . During the 1960s , Berit received a number of scholarships and awards for her design.
