REVOLUCAO FLORAL
Works on Paper
REVOLUCAO FLORAL, 2024 - 59.4 x 84 cm - Cyanotype and Gilding on Arches Platine paper.
I have acquired through auction a great book (ca. 1900) filled with ironwork construction plans dating back from the Industrial Revolution era: SUPPLEMENT AU TRAITÉ DE SERRURERIE ET CONSTRUCTION EN FER.
In this context I have played with layering Brazilian plant illustrations creating a dynamic juxtaposition between architectural elements and flora eliciting nature’s resilience among the advent of technology & Industry.
Nature’s ability to persevere and adapt is often referred to as “nature always winning.” This concept stems from the idea that nature, through evolution and natural selection, has a remarkable ability to endure and thrive in the face of various challenges.
No more has this been evident during the second Industrial Revolution ( late 19th c. Early 20th) triggering environmental issues to gain considerable importance in the following decades.
Human activities can push ecosystems beyond their capacity to recover. Therefore, it’s essential for humans to consider the impact of their actions on the natural world and strive to coexist in a way that supports the resilience of nature.
