DEFORESTATION COLLECTION
Deforestation Stool
In Brazil, the Atlantic forest (Mata Atlântica in Portuguese) is a tropical rainforest. This hot-spot of the planet’s biodiversity has been enormously reduced in size, and deforestation has turned it into one of the most endangered tropical forests in the world. The stool from the Deforestation collection is made up of hundreds of cut wooden branches. It is a reminder of the threat that constantly hovers over this delicate, vulnerable ecosystem.
The blue colour at the base of the object symbolises the mark used by forest wardens to indicate trees that are not to be cut. The object’s design evokes the topography of the tropical forest, where various sizes and shapes of plants coexist.
